Resources for Incoming JETs
So, you've been accepted into the JET Programme and now you have ALL the questions about how to prepare for your new life in Japan. Below is some information and a few links that will hopefully give you a good starting point as to where you can find your answers. You may also want to check out our Prefectural Resources page.

Contracting Organization & Predecessor
Any questions about your specific situation can only be answered by your predecessor and your contracting organization. Be aware that you get notified of your acceptance and placement before your predecessor is and usually your predecessor isn't notified or allowed to contact you until about one month before your arrival in Japan.
JET Programme General Information Handbook
Directly available for PDF download on the JET Programme website, the JET General Information Handbook is extremely useful both for incoming JETs, current JETs, and departing JETs. You can download the book here.

AJET Information for Incoming JETs
AJET has a great page with information for incoming JETs, including a handy Before You Leave Checklist and a really comprehensive FAQ.

Facebook Groups
The JET Community is very active on Facebook and there are a plethora of groups and pages you can join that will be a great place for you to ask questions and get in touch with JETs who are currently living in the prefecture or area you have been assigned to. The AJET Block Pages are a great way to keep abreast of all the events, festivals and other goings on in your Block community. Many prefectures also have their own Facebook group or page whose links are usually available from the block pages.
2022 Incoming JETs Facebook Group - This group is for all new incoming 2022 JET participants. This group is managed by National AJET and moderated by a team of alumni and current JET participants. Current JETs as well as Alumni JETs are on hand to help answer any questions or share experiences.
